If you’re looking for an ESL tutoring job, you’re in the right place. Today I’ll give you a list of 15 different legitimate work at home English Second Language tutoring sites.
There’s a wide variety of regular on this list, and some allow you even to tutor on your smartphone. Most do require some experience, but take a look at the details of each and see which is best for you.

15 Scam Free Online ESL Tutoring Jobs
VIP Kid – Read Review
To become a tutor for VIP Kid you’ll need a 4-year college degree, native English speaker (US or Canada), tutoring experience, and be available 7.5 hours a week. The application process includes a phone interview and mock tutoring session.
Tutoring sessions last 30 minutes and most teachers are making $14-$18 an hour. Payments are made via Direct Deposit once a month.
Education First is another new ESL company that is US based and has a US-based support team, which they make clear is a big advantage that they have over other ESL companies. On Glassdoor, they have a 3.5 rating out of 5, and there’re several positive reviews from current tutors.
Education First states that teachers can make anywhere from $13-$20 an hour based on your qualifications when you apply.
To apply to Education First you need a Bachelor’s Degree in any field and have completed at least a 40-hour TEFL certification.

Magic Ears is currently hiring tutors to teach English to young Chinese children. You can earn $20-$26 an hour tutoring from home.
You’ll need to live in the US or Canada, a 4-year bachelor’s degree, teaching/tutoring experience, and a certificate.

PalFish – Read Review
Palfish is an app based ESL tutoring service. Anyone who’s fluent in English can join as a tutor. You get to set your hourly rate; most rates range from $8-$45 an hour.
Set your own schedule and build long term students.
Payments made via PayPal on the 1st of the month. There’s no minimum cash out amount so you’ll get paid whatever you earn each month!
iTalki – Read Review
iTalki hires two types of positions, a professional teacher, and a tutor. Anyone who is Fluent in English and is willing to help students can become a tutor. Tutoring sessions usually last around 30 minutes and are conducted via Skype.
You’ll earn ITC credits for tutoring, ten are equal to $1.
Payments made via PayPal and bank transfer twice a month.
Nice Talk – Read Review
The only requirement to sign up as a Nice Talk tutor is fluent in English. If you are, you can download the app and complete your profile. As a Nice Talk tutor, you’ll hold conversations with students and get paid for the minutes you’re talking.
You’ll earn $10 for 60 minutes of talking with students. Payments are made each week via PayPal once your account reaches $20.
Cambly – Read Review
Anyone that’s fluent in English and lives in the US can join Cambly as a tutor. You’ll need a webcam, and you’ll hold normal conversations with ESL students.
Cambly pays $.17 per minute which works out to $10.20 an hour. Payments are made via PayPal on the 1st and 15th of the month.
Native Talk App – Read Review
Anyone that’s fluent in English and graduated/currently enrolled in a long list of select universities can join. Similar to the other apps where you’ll talk to students through the app.
You’ll earn $.20 per minute you talk, which works out to $12 an hour. Payments are made weekly via PayPal.
Learnlight – Read Review
To become a learnlight tutor, you’ll need two years of experience and be able to commit to at least 10 hours per week. The application process takes about two weeks and includes a phone and skype interview.
Learnlight will schedule tutoring sessions for you and pays $10-$12 an hour. Payments are made via PayPal and Bank Transfer.
GoldenVoice – Read Review
To become a Golden Voice tutor, you’ll need 3 months of experience and a college education. Things like a teaching certificate are preferred, but not required. The application does include a background check and phone interview.
You can pick a flexible schedule, but there’re peak hours when more students are available. Most teachers are making $15-$18 an hour.
Tutor ABC – Read Review
To become a TutorABC tutor, you’ll need a college degree or at least some experience. The application process includes an English test and video interview.
You’ll be teaching classes, typically last 45 minutes, with multiple students in them.
Most tutors are making around $10 an hour, but you can earn bonuses for good reviews from students. Payments are made via PayPal or Direct Deposit monthly.
Open English
To become a tutor here you’ll need to be a native English speaker, have some tutoring experience, and be able to commit to 25 hours a week.
You’ll be talking to students and using interactive teaching programs.
Most tutors are making $8-$11 an hour.
Berlitz
To become a tutor for Berlitz you’ll need to be fluent in English, have a 4-year college degree, and have experience. They do hire a work at home position but also have jobs in select cities.
It looks like most tutors are making $11-$13 an hour.
English Hunt
To become a tutor at English Hunt you’ll need to be fluent in English, have a teaching certificate, and a 4-year degree. The application includes 2 phone interviews and a mock tutoring session.
No information on how much it pays, but the feedback is mostly positive.
GoFluent
To tutor for GoFluent you’ll need to be fluent in English, have a 4 year degree or teaching certificate. The work entails teaching professional people English, so they prefer you have some sort of business background. They only hire tutors in certain states.
You’ll need to commit to 20 hours a week, and they’d like at least 4 hours a day.
Language Development System
To tutor, you’ll need a 4-year college degree. They’d prefer you have teaching degree and experience, but it’s not required.
The application consists of training and teaching a mock class. If all goes well, you’ll get a 6-month contract to tutor.
