YouGov is one of the biggest online market research company’s that boasts being home to a large community that expresses and share their opinions on the world including main topics such as Politics, Environment.

I’ve joined and used this site so in this review I’ll share my experience and see if YouGov is a legitimate way to earn or a scam.

Make sure to read on till the end of the review as there are aspects to them you should be aware off before joining.

YouGov Review

YouGov Logo

Site Name: YouGov

Type: Survey Site

Verdict: Legitimate, Recommend other sites

I have tried out many survey sites and this one is as close to being Legitimate as they come. This site has a good history of paying, and many users enjoy using the site to not only earn money but get an insight into current events and things happening in the world.

YouGov offers a good way to make some extra cash and the surveys pay okay. I even found some to be quite interesting. However the amount of money you can make is limited, so don’t sign up to them hoping to make a fortune as that won’t be possible.

If you are looking to make more then just an extra income every now and then, then why not try creating your own business online. This post explains how you can get started today for free.

How Does YouGov Work?

YouGov is a UK based panel that offers opportunities for you to earn money by giving your opinions on different subjects.

Admittedly whats available to you is quite limited however I’ll go over how each opportunity works. Like most existing survey sites out there, you will get paid for your time and effort, in this instance, you will get points for every survey you complete and referral you invite.

Completing Surveys

Taking surveys is one of a couple of ways to make money, most surveys pay 500 to 1000 points. You can expect to receive around 5 to 7 survey invites a week, so there is a potential of 3500 to 7000 points ($2-$4.70). From time to time you can also get invited to higher paying surveys that can increase your earnings.

Whenever there is a survey that fits your demographic and profile, YouGov will send you an invite via email. In these emails, you will find out how much the survey is worth, what it’s about and also how long it will take to complete.

With $1 equalling roughly 1600 points, you won’t be getting paid more than a dollar a survey. The positive though is that the surveys are relatively short and while some surveys on other sites take up to 45 minutes, these will only take you between 5 and 15 minutes.

Referring Friends

YouGov does pay you to refer friends. From my experience, I have found inviting friends to be rewarding. However, the rates and how much you can get paid depends on the site.

With YouGov, there is a 2 step process to earn for referring, so once you have referred someone, they will then need to complete 3 surveys in order for you to get paid.

The commission is great so you will get around $3, however, the question is whether the referral will last long enough to complete that many surveys. From my experience, I have found that a lot of people simply sign up maybe complete one survey and then leave, so it could be hard to make a great deal.

How Does YouGov Pay?

Once you have earned enough points you can then exchange them for a reward, for YouGov, you will need a balance of 25000 points which is a $15 gift card.

If you aren’t American and are from the UK the minimum threshold is much higher at £50, this means it will be a slow process to build up the amount to withdraw.

They do offer payouts for various gift cards such as Amazon, Best Buy, iTunes, Target and Walmart and also PayPal. If you are interested in checking out other good paying sites that pay through PayPal check out this link.

Surveys Are Somewhat Limited

While 5 to 7 surveys a week isn’t too bad that is 1 survey a day at the max. There’re several other sites that have many more surveys available.

Sites such as Swagbucks and Fusion Cash offer many more opportunities for you to earn in a day, so if you do run out of surveys you can get paid to do things such as watch tv and complete offers, opportunities that YouGov doesn’t have.

Is YouGov A Scam?

Its safe to say that YouGov is perfectly legit and you can use them to make some extra cash online. I’ve personally tried their surveys before, and I have enjoyed them so I would recommend them.

Feel free to check them out if you are interested in earning with YouGov but just make sure to remember that you can only make an extra few dollars a week as the process is slow, but if you do have a spare 15 minutes each day it could be worth trying out

  1. I’ve been a using this site for a while. True, it doesn’t pay much but I always qualify for a survey and most of them take less than 10 minutes. It’s worth it for me.
