If you’re a big fan of current events and the news you might be interested in making some extra cash writing at Newslines.org. Newslines.org is a site that will pay you to write summaries of current events and you’ll get paid through a revenue sharing program.
The thing I liked about this site is that they’re looking for short summaries of the news, not thousand word posts about what’s going on. But there are some things I’m not a huge fan of.
In this Newslines.org review I’ll cover what type of news articles they’re looking for, how much you get paid, and of course, answer is this a legit way to make money or another scam!

What Type Of News Do They Accept?
It seems that Newslines basically accepts any type of news. What seems to be popular is current events about celebrities, but world events seem to be written about a lot as well. The different main categories they show on their site are life, music, awards, products, sports, legal, news, business, politics, and military.
All of these main categories break down into many other subcategories, so you can see almost any type of news can be accepted on Newslines.
Where Can You Get Your Information?
So here’s the cool thing about Newslines. Anyone can join, you don’t have to be a professional writer or an inside man with a breaking story. You can get information on any website other than sites like Wikipedia basically.
All you have to do is leave a link to the site where you found the story. This makes it super easy to summarize a story someone else has already broke. Of course, you need to put it in your own words and can not plagiarize.
How Much Does Newslines Pay?
Newslines pays with a revenue sharing program, if you’re not familiar, revenue sharing is Newslines gives you a percentage of the earnings they make on people viewing your writing and clicking on ads.
Really this isn’t a method I like or would use, but some people like it.
Basically you’ll earn 45% of all the advertising revenue Newslines brings in off the news stories you write. It looks like payments are made via PayPal once you reach $20 in earnings.
Just to give you an idea here’s a chart they have on their site breaking down earnings. I’ll say that the amount of page views they are using here is not likely, but it gives you an example:
How To Earn More With Newslines.org?
Not only can you get paid for your writing at Newslines, but you can also get paid for your friends.
Referral Program
Newslines.org does offer a referral program that can earn you more money. You’ll earn 5% of all the earnings the people you refer to newslines make.
For example if your friend reaches the $20 cash out amount you’ll earn $1.
My Concerns With Newslines
Over the last few years I’ve tried a few different revenue sharing sites similar to Newslines. From what I found the views you get on your writing are pretty low and views completely control your income.
Truth is writing short 100 word summarizes isn’t going to bring in any traffic from search engines. That leaves paid traffic, which won’t be price effective, and social media.
Honestly, I don’t think you can get enough page views to make this a large income or even a steady small income, based on my experiences. That’s why I started writing content that gets ranked in search engines, brings me free traffic, and I get to keep 100% of all my earnings instead of just a percentage. You can learn how to do this for free at Wealthy Affiliate.
I’m not saying that the revenue sharing method is a scam, but it’s not as lucrative as many people think!
Is Newslines A Scam Or Legit?
Newslines.org is a completely legit scam free way to make money online for writing short summarizes about the news, but I’m not a huge fan of revenue sharing sites. In my opinion, you’re wasting your time for the small income you can receive on these sites. Newslines talks about receiving a ton of traffic to their site, but that does not mean people will find or view your writing, which is what makes you money.
I prefer to write on my own website and keep 100% of the earnings from advertising instead of just a cut. If you’d like to learn more about this you can visit My #1 Recommendation, it’s how I make a full time income online and I don’t split any earnings with sites like Newslines.
If you still want to give revenue sharing a shot Newslines is a legit site, so to learn more or to join visit Newslines.org and sign up!

Like I said Newslines is legit, but I don’t really recommend it, but here’s some other extra income sites that I do recommend. I’ve mentioned getting paid 100% of the income my writing generates above, you can see how I do this for free at how to work at home.
