Let’s get started with this Editor World Review!

Editor World Requirements

If you want to apply to be an editor for Editor World, they want to make sure you meet the following minimum requirements:

  • You should have a bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Previous editing experience
  • Must be native English speaking

Currently, Editor World is only accepting applications from editors who have a Ph.D. and or a science background. They receive many applications from people who don’t meet these requirements, so please make sure that you only apply if you meet these requirements!

Editor World Application Process

Click here to apply to be an editor. At the time of writing this review, they are only accepting editors with a Ph.D. and or science background. When you click ‘Apply,’ you are sent to a page to register as a new editor. Here’s what they are asking for:

  • Email
  • Username
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Self Description (this is a text field, and it looks like this is basically your bio, or editor profile, for when people are looking for an editor. This is your chance to say why they should hire you for their assignment.)
  • Credentials (This could be your education or any certificates you hold.)
  • Services (They give you a list, and you check the boxes. This is what people see when they are looking for an editor.)
  • Payment preference (check or PayPal)
  • Highest level of education
  • Are you native English speaking with editing experience?
  • Last you will create a password

How Editor World Works

When you register to be an editor, you will select the services that you offer. Here is the list they suggest, and you check the box for all that apply:

  • Academic
  • Book
    • Fiction
    • Non-Fiction
  • ESL (English as a Second Language)
  • Business
  • Personal
  • Style
  • Formatting
  • PowerPoint
  • LaTeX
  • PDF

When a client searches for an editor for their project, they can narrow their search by this list of services, and if they need same day editing, they can choose 2-hour, 4-hour, or 8-hour editing.

Then they will be able to see who is available and who can provide the services they requested. For the sake of this review, I selected that I need 2-hour editing, with the services of Academic, Business, and Formatting. Only 1 editor is available who offers the services I need. It shows me their credentials, services, number of pages edited, and their description.

The description is the profile that you create when you are applying. It looks like you can go back in here to change your info and update it as needed.

The user name you create is not your name, but something crafty, for example, DrEditor or WriteEditor. I’m not sure if you can change that, so come up with something creative that describes you and will catch someone’s attention!

New editors give up to 20% off. I can’t tell if this is automatic or if it’s your choice. But it seems like it would be a good way to get some clients when you’re getting started.

How Does Editor World Pay?

Editor World pays by check or PayPal.

Editor World Schedule

Editor World offers around-the-clock editing services, so you will be able to work during the hours that are best for your schedule. It looks like as an editor; you will have a back office that you can log in to and update your availability. So if you’re trying to fill the gaps in your day or balance it with a full-time job, you should be able to do that.

Editor World Feedback

In 2017, Editor World won a Silver Stevie Award in the Company of the Year – Consumer Services category in the 14th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. I also read several great reviews from people who used their editing services. It’s a good sign if clients are happy.

I wasn’t able to find any reviews from employees. But that’s not all bad. If someone has a terrible experience with a company, they usually go out of their way to tell everyone about it. Glassdoor, who we frequently use to find reviews, has no reviews for Editor World. And they claim that reviews can’t be removed.

Is Working at Editor World a Scam?

Based on my research, I believe that Editor World is NOT a scam. Even without pay rate info and reviews, I do believe it’s legit. If you meet the qualifications, it appears to be a pretty fast application process and seems like it would be worth trying it out! Here’s the link again if you want to apply. Please, remember to only apply if you meet the requirements!

Again, please don’t apply unless you can meet all the requirements. If you can’t, you might want to learn how to find your own high paying editing clients. Make sure to check out the course at ProofreadAnwhere to learn more!
