CrowdContent Reviews

CrowdContent Requirements

At this time the application is available to anyone in any country, but they only hire in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. They are expanding so they will let you still apply if you’re from another country.

The application is pretty easy. It will require you to give you your personal information, fill out your profile, and upload some of your best work. From what I can tell most people are excepted, but your given a writing level, based on the content you submit.

They consider this star level and will decide what type of writing jobs you can complete and how much you will get paid.

As long as your a pretty good writer you should have no issue getting accepted.

Types Of Articles

Once again your star level can have an effect on what type of writing jobs are available to you, but here are the types of writing you may be able to complete.

  • Website Content
  • Blog Posts
  • Press Releases
  • Product Descriptions
  • SEO content
  • Newsletters
  • Ebooks
  • White Papers

How Much Will You Earn

Pay depends on your star level along with how quickly and satisfied the order is completed. The rates do change from time to time and for some special jobs, you can get paid more. But right now CrowdContent pays per word, and you can see the rates below:

1 Star: 1.2 Cents
2 Star: 2 Cents
3 Star: 4.4 Cents
4 Star: 6.6 Cents

These are the flat rates that are paid per word. Like mentioned you can get paid more for delivering early and having high stratification.

How Will They Pay

After you submit an order, the order will be excepted within 3 days. Your earnings are then added to your account. CrowdContent pays on the second Friday of every month. Your earnings will be cashed out automatically via PayPal on this day.

The minimum cash out amount is $10 if you don’t have $10 or more your earnings will just roll over to the next pay period.

Levels Of Star Rating

When you first join you’re given a star level based on the writing you submit, but after that, it all depends on the work you complete. At the end of each order, the buyer will leave you a review. Your star level is based on the last 5 jobs that you’ve completed. They can rate you with Excellent, Good, Acceptable, or Poor.

Once again star level is very important because it will decide your pay rate and some buyers only want a writer at a certain start level or above.

Strikes and Feedback

I covered Feedback in the Star Rating section, but you can also be given strikes. Crowd Content has a 3 strike policy until your account will be closed completely. You can receive strikes for consistently not meeting buyers demands, dropping orders after a deadline, and not meeting deadlines.

Luckily a buyer cannot give you a strike, but if you don’t meet there demands a poor review will affect your writer star level.

As long as you put out good work and meet deadlines you should be able to keep a high start level and not get strikes.

CrowdContent Complaints

No site is perfect, here are two CrowdContent complaints that I’ve heard a lot of around the web.

Feedback Controlling Start Level

One thing that’s a bit of a problem is the fact that your star level is based on the last five feedback that you’ve received. Now most writing sites have a similar method there buyers get to rate you, but it usually doesn’t affect your writer rank that much.

Another issue is that every buyer is different. Even if you meet the deadlines and do give them quality work it doesn’t mean they will feel like you did a good job and can give you a poor rating for any reason.

Not that all buyers will do this, but you could run into this from time to time.

Payments

I was really excited to see that PayPal was the method of payment, but did not like the payment schedule. It seems like a lot of the writing sites only pay one time per month, but I’d really like to see payments at least a couple times a month or weekly.

It won’t be a big deal for most, but if you work from home as a writer as a full-time job, waiting on money could be an issue.

Become A CrowdContent Writer

Overall CrowdContent is a pretty good site to get paid to write. I think it’s pretty easy to get excepted as long as you can write a bit. It does rely heavily on your star rating so it’s very important to put out quality work and meet all of your deadlines.

As long as you treat the buyers right and meet demands you should be pretty happy with this site. To learn more or join visit CrowdContent.com.

  1. I “worked” for Crowd Content for several years, though I only ever completed 12 or so pieces for them. In my experience, $1.76 for a product description is criminally low, especially when the client wants a lot of revisions and it goes back and forth. For one article for $4, the client changed his mind about the exact topic at least 3 times. This equated to be $4 or 8 or so hours of work. This site is a terrible one for anyone to write for.
