More and more people are looking for assistant work from home so it can be very difficult to find leads and actually get a job. I came across a company called Contemporary Virtual Assistant that might be able to help with this problem.
Contemporary VA is a company that matches virtual assistants with their client companies. There is a wide variety of different tasks that you may have to perform and some are pretty specialized, which leads to higher pay.
In this Contemporary VA review, we will cover everything you need to know about this company like what you’ll be doing, what you need to apply, and how much you can actually make!

How Contemporary VA Works
Once you get hired you’ll most likely be working with a project manager for a specific client. Contemporary VA will assign you a client and project that matches your skills. You will be paid by Contemporary VA, but completing work for clients outside of the company that pays for VA services.
Contemporary VA Requirements
The technical requirements are pretty simple. A computer with a high-speed internet connection is really all that is needed. In some cases, you may need a headset, but it’s not listed in the requirements.
I will cover the application process next but do know that they are very selective. It does not say anything about required experience, but you will need to complete tests to prove your worthy of a position.
Contemporary VA Application Process
As mentioned above the Contemporary VA application process is pretty lengthy. First, you will be required to fill out a form and they’ll contact you if they’re interested. This form includes work experience and general information about yourself.
Then you’ll need to complete a series of tests that test skills needed to be a successful VA. If all goes well here you’ll be hired.
After being hired you’ll go through an apprenticeship stage. From what I can find it’s a minimum of 60 days. During this time you will be doing behind the scenes work and never interacting with clients or people outside Contemporary VA.
Also during the apprenticeship stage, you will have to complete ongoing training and will be monitored by a higher up employee of the company.
What Type Of Work Will You Do?
There is no exact answer to this question just like most VA jobs, but here some information listed on their website.
VA’s need to be skilled in at least one of the following areas: Microsoft Office, WordPress, Graphic Design, InfusionSoft, or other popular web based services.
Some of your responsibilities will be responding to client requests, helping other VA’s with an overload of work, and attending company training.
As I said there is no real answer to this. Based on your skills you might be assigned a specific duty, but at the beginning, you’ll probably be doing a little bit of everything.
How Much Does Contemporary VA Pay?
Contemporary Virtual Assistant pays $10 an hour when starting out. There is room for pay raise, but it looks like everyone starts out at $10 no matter your experience level.
I couldn’t find the exact answer, but it looks like at one time they paid every two weeks by mailed check. This may have changed by now, but this is what I could find. You will be an independent contractor when you join, so it’s on you to report income come tax time.
Set or Flexible Schedule?
It really all depends on what your client wants, but this can be a part time to about 30 hours a week in most cases. You must be able to work at least 4 hours a day Monday through Friday in between 9 am and 5 pm.
Some clients will assign specific times that they would like you to work in that time frame. It seems that it is a set schedule since there is a time requirement, but some clients are pretty flexible on the exact time frame that you get in those hours.
Is Contemporary VA Legit?
There is no doubt that Contemporary Virtual Assistant is a legit company that hires and pays their employees. From what I can see, this is a perfect site for someone who is struggling to come up with VA jobs since once you’re hired you’re matched with clients right away and if a client no longer needs you, you’ll be assigned to a different project.
I couldn’t find any bad feedback from current workers, so I have to assume that everyone is pretty satisfied with the work. It does look like there is plenty of room for promotions and higher pay after you complete the apprenticeship period.
One thing to keep in mind is you must sign a form saying you won’t compete with Contemporary VA, meaning you won’t look for work elsewhere like job bidding sites while you’re employed. This shouldn’t be a huge issue, but it’s something to keep in mind.
