4 Scam Free ESL Tutoring Apps: No Experience Needed

4 Legitimate ESL Student Tutoring Apps that Require No Tutoring Experience. Pay Via PayPal!One very popular way to make extra money online is tutoring, especially English Second Language tutoring. From what I’ve found, most of the sites online require you to have experience and maybe even a degree to tutor.

After doing some research, I was able to find four legitimate apps that do not require experience. The only requirement is to be a native English speaker and have the drive to teach.

On this page, I’ll cover the four apps, but I do have more detailed reviews of each. If you have any questions about tutoring with these apps, please leave comments below.

Making money from home teaching English is great, but I prefer a much more passive way of making money online, check out My #1 Recommendation, it’s how I made over $13,000 online last month!

4 Legitimate ESL Tutoring Apps

PalFish

Out of the four apps, PalFish seems to be the one my readers have the most feedback on, and it all appears to be very positive.

Anyone can become a Palfish tutor as long as you’re a native English speaker and have a mobile device to download the app. Once you download the app, you set up your teaching profile by setting a profile picture, recording a video introduction, and setting your tutoring rate (most teachers make $8-$45 an hour).

There’re two ways to get paid to tutor. The first is by setting your schedule and students booking tutoring sessions in those times. You can also open the app and start chatting with students at any time (if there’re any students available).

PalFish pays monthly on the 1st via PayPal.

PalFish seems to give you the tools you need to connect with students and build long-term relationships to keep your tutoring schedule full.

Nice Talk

Anyone who’s a native English speaker can apply to be a Nice Talk tutor. Similar to PalFish, once you download the app, you’ll complete your teacher profile which includes a video introduction.

Once you complete your profile, and it is approved, you can open the app and chat with students at any time (as long as there’re students available).

You’ll earn $10 per hour of talking with students, but they do pay by the minute so around $.17 per minute.

Once you make $20 (2 hours of chatting), you can cash out your earnings. Nice Talk pays via PayPal weekly.

The Native Talk app does not require experience, but there’s an additional requirement. You’ll need to be a native English speaker and be attending/graduated from a university on their list (US and UK).

Just like the other apps, you’ll need to fill out your teacher profile which includes a video introduction. You’ll also need to show proof of attending a university on their list.

You can open the app anytime and start conversations with students (as long as there’re students available). You’ll get paid $.20 per minute, which works out to $12 an hour.

NativeTalk pays via PayPal.

Skima Talk

Skima Talk is a bit different than the other apps on this list. They don’t have an app. All tutoring sessions are done on Skype, so you can download the Skype app and conduct tutoring sessions on your phone.

To become a Skima Talk teacher, you need to be a native English speaker and be over the age of 18. To apply, complete your teacher profile that includes a video introduction and short test of their teacher guidelines.

If approved, you can set your schedule out for eight days. Students schedule tutoring sessions in the slots you’re available.

When you get a tutoring session, you call the student via Skype and conduct a 25-minute conversation.

You get to set your own rate per tutoring session (most sessions range from $8-$12). Payments are made monthly via PayPal.

ESL Tutoring App Tips

Your teacher profile is the key to being successful on these apps. Make sure to have a high-quality profile picture and take the time to perfect your video introduction. It’s what all students see first and can make or break picking up a new tutoring session.

On the apps that you set your own rate, you’ll need to start low and work your way up. All of the apps require the student to evaluate you. As you increase your rank and get more good feedback, you can begin to increase your rate.

If you have a high-quality profile and continually get positive ratings, you should have no problem getting students and making good money with these apps.

Other Ways To Make Money

These ESL tutoring apps are pretty awesome and can be an excellent way to monetize some down time. I really like that they do not require any experience if you want to teach you can.

With that being said you’ll need to be good at it to make it worthwhile. If you don’t think ESL tutoring is for you, here are some helpful links to other opportunities.
