Please note, Multilingual Connections is currently only seeking applications from independent freelancers, not from agencies or organizations who employ people.

If you are an independent freelancer with special linguistics skills as described above, here’s how you get started. The application process varies a little depending on the service or services you provide.

If you transcribe in one of the languages or language pairs listed above, go to this page and follow the instructions to take a brief test. When you get to this page, there are 3 documents you need to open.

  1. The guideline – keep this document open as a reference while you test
  2. Sample transcript –  this is a sample of a strict verbatim transcript
  3. Template – download this document to use as a template for the test

The 3 documents listed above are available on the website just before starting the test. NOTE: you will have 2 hours to complete the test from the time you receive it by email. So don’t request the test until you are ready to complete it!

How Much Does Multilingual Connections Pay?

The rates will vary according to the language pair and type of project. Some projects are straightforward, while others will require highly technical knowledge or multimedia components. You will be an independent contractor, so as usual, you’ll be responsible for your income reporting and taxes.
