Surveys have always been an extremely popular way to make extra income online, but over the last year, I’ve seen more and more websites/apps that offer video surveys. One of the newest sites is called Mindswarms. Mindswarms offers video surveys on your computer and your smartphone through their app.
The cool thing about video surveys is that they’re shorter than normal surveys and pay much more too!

In this Mindswarms video survey review, I marked it legitimate. If the process of video surveys is new to you, let me make it clear that you will have to record yourself and be on camera to complete surveys. If this is an issue, check out some of the other great ways to make an extra income online.
At Mindswarms I like that all the studies pay $50 and that payments are made soon after you complete a study via PayPal. Once you complete the sign-up process, it’s pretty easy to get studies and complete them.
I do have some complaints about the site and app, but overall it’s still a good way to make some extra cash taking online video surveys.
How Does Mindswarms Surveys Work?
Requirements/Signing Up
The requirements are extremely open with Mindswarms. Anyone from any country can sign up for an account, but you will either need a smartphone or computer with a webcam and audio recording. I will say that although anyone can sign up, you have to qualify for video surveys, so just because you can sign up doesn’t mean you’ll get studies and make money!
If you meet the requirements, you can sign up at Mindswarms.com or through their app on your smartphone.
You’ll have to enter your name, a bit of information about yourself, and record a short video survey. They do give you details on what they expect and have a guide to creating video surveys that get approved.
The sample video asks you to tell them what kind of music you like. It really doesn’t matter what your answer is, the key is that the video has high-quality video and sound!
Once you submit your sample video, Mindswarms will review it and let you know if you’ve been accepted.
Apply For Studies
Once you’ve accepted, you can apply for video studies. You’ll see a list of video studies going on at the time, and you can apply if you’d like. Apply for a study opens a few screening questions that you answer.
Applying for studies does not require a video response and it’s not paid, but it only takes a few minutes. If you’re approved for a study, you’ll be notified.
Complete the Study
If you get accepted to a study, it’s time to review and complete the study. Each study will have 4-7 questions they’d like you to answer. This could be about a product, website, or anything the company would like to know.
You’ll record a 45 second-1 minute response giving your opinion on each question. Companies are looking for honest feedback, so it’s completely okay to be negative.
Once you’ve recorded your response to all of the questions you can submit your video survey.
Review and Get Paid!
Within 24 hours Mindswarms will review and either approve or flag your responses. If your video is flagged for low-quality audio or video, you do have the chance to redo your replies. If your video is approved, you’ll get paid $50 via PayPal instantly!
How Does Mindswarms Surveys Pay?
Once you complete a study, and it’s been approved by Mindswarms, you’ll earn $50 and get paid via PayPal instantly! They do say that approving your video could take up to 24 hours, so expect to receive your payment within 24 hours of completing your study.
I also saw on the FAQs that some studies occasionally pay more, but these either require you to visit a certain location or purchase a product. Not a bad deal, because the extra payment is usually much more than you’ll spend.

Where Are the Studies?
Taking video surveys is very similar to usability testing, where you can’t log in and take video survey all day. Studies come in randomly; you might receive a few studies a week or just a few a month. You also have to qualify for studies, so even though there’re studies available you may not be eligible to take it and get paid.
There’re complaints of members not receiving many studies, but that’s to be expected. If you go in knowing that there may only be a few studies a month, this is just extra income, and there’s no way to turn this into a full-time income, you should be pretty happy with Mindswarms video surveys.
Your Study Has Been Flagged!
Once you complete a study, your video will be held for review before you get your cash. Sometimes videos get flagged, meaning there was an issue and it was not accepted. Some reasons could be the video or audio quality was low, you did not answer what was asked, or bad language.
There’re only a few complaints of people saying their videos were flagged and they couldn’t understand why, but I haven’t seen the videos they submitted so they really could have been bad!
The cool thing is if your video is flagged, Mindswarms sends you an email saying it’s been flagged and gives you the opportunity to redo your study.
Is Mindswarms Video Surveys A Scam?
Mindswarms Video Surveys is not a scam, although there’re some complaints about the site and app, they are all easily explained. As long as you go in knowing what to expect, you should be pretty happy with Mindswarms.
