I recently reviewed a site that pays you to lose weight called HealthyWage. Today I’d like to cover a way you can make money with HealhtyWage even if you don’t need to lose weight. It’s called a HealthyWage step challenge, and you’ll get paid to meet your daily step goals.
I had several people contact me asking if there was a way for them to make money with HealthyWage even if you don’t need to lose weight and here’s your chance, with a step challenge.
On this page, I’ll give you a brief overview of the challenge, how it works, and how you can make money even if you don’t need to lose weight!
What Is A HealthyWage Step Challenge?
HealthyWage is a company that’s been around for awhile letting members make bets on their weight loss goals. Since not everyone needs to lose weight, they recently added a challenge that lets you bet money you’ll be more active by taking more steps.
A typical Step Challenge lasts two months and has a bet of $30 a month ($60 total.) If you meet your step goals, you’ll earn your bet and split the available pot. If you don’t meet your goals, you’ll lose your bet. The whole idea is to give you a monetary incentive to be more active. If you’d like to learn more, visit HealthyWage.com.

How Does It Work?
1) Join A Step Challenge
The first step is to sign up for a free account at HealthyWage.com, once you do you can see all of the available challenges. Step Challenges typically last two months and has specific start dates that you’ll need to pay attention to. Find a step challenge you’re interested in and click on it to learn more!
2) Sync Your Fitbit or JawBone
Before you commit to a Step challenge, you need to connect your Fitbit or download the Up app if you use an iWatch. If you have a Fitbit, the process is incredibly simple, and steps update automatically. If you use an iWatch, they have a detailed guide to getting it set up with the Up App.
3) Calculate Your Step Goal
Once you link your Fitbit or iWatch, HealthyWage will calculate a daily step goal for you. For example, let’s say you join a 60-day challenge and have a goal of 10,000 daily steps. That means within that 60-day challenge you need to take 600,000 steps.
Occasionally, if you don’t have much history, they may suggest a step goal for you. If you’re happy with the step goal, you can proceed to sign up for the challenge.
4) Get Signed Up!
If you’re happy with your goal, it’s time to get signed up and pay your bet. You have the option to pay the bet in a one-time payment or monthly payments via credit/debit card. Once you pay you’re in the challenge, and it’s time to meet your goals!
5) Meet Your Goals & Get Paid
As mentioned, once they calculate your daily goal, just multiply that times the number of days in the challenge. Just because your daily goal is 10,000 steps doesn’t mean you need to meet that every day. As long as you accumulate enough step throughout the challenge, you’ll win!
Healthywage reports most members make 2-3 times their bet, so on a typical $60 bet you could win up to $180!
How Much Can You Earn?
The amount you’ll win all depends on the challenge. Keep in mind you must meet your goals to be eligible to win your bet and bonus. On the HealthyWage website, they state that most members who reach their goal earn
2-3 times their investment in most challenges.
Update 9/13: I completed a step challenge and the 2-3 times the investment is for the weight loss challenges. I invested $40 and received $71.30.
Once you win, you can withdraw your earnings via PayPal or a mailed check.
*If you make over $600 in a given year through HealthyWage you’re required to report it come tax time.
Proof HealthyWage Pays!
As mentioned above, I completed a step challenge and met my goals. I invested $40 and ended up earning $71.30 paid to me via PayPal!
Can’t People Cheat?
As mentioned, the amount you win if you meet your goals has to do with others reaching their goals. The more people that don’t meet their goals the bigger the pot that’s split among the winners, so cheating is a concern. Of course, it’s difficult to cheat with the smartwatches that automatically updated steps, but what about people that get to enter their steps manually?
HealthWage has a detailed page on their site that says they do step audits on any activity that seems suspicious. If you manually enter in your steps, you’ll most likely be asked to verify your steps for a few days over the course of the contest.
Of course, cheating is still a possibility, but at least HealthyWage is taking steps to minimize it.
How To Get Started
Please keep in mind that HealthyWage step challenges are usually two months long and have specific start and end dates, so you’ll have to do some planning to make sure you get in a challenge that works for you. Please keep in mind that if you don’t reach your goals, you won’t win any money.
