Today I’d like to cover the work from home transcription position available with the company WeScribeIt. WeScribeIt hires a general, legal, and medical transcription position.
This review is going to cover the general transcription position, but if you’re interested in Legal transcription, check out this course.
To work at WeScribeIt there’re some requirements including experience, but if you have experience, this might be a great place to pick up work.
In this review, I’ll cover what working at WeScribeIt is like, the requirements, application process, schedule, and other necessary information.

WeScribeIt Requirements
As mentioned, I’m going to cover the requirements for the general transcription position. The Legal and Medical requirements can be seen here, they are more difficult to meet than the general requirements.
- Live in the US
- Six months of transcription experience in last two years
- Type 55 WPM
- Ability to Follow Directions & Detailed Oriented
- Knowledge of Transcription Formats
WeScribeIt does not list any technical requirements, but most companies want you to have a high-quality headset and foot pedal. These will both help you be more efficient and transcribe faster.
WeScribeIt Application Process
The application process at WeScribeIt is simple.
- Fill out application on their website
- Complete Transcription Test that they email you
- If they are interested, they will contact you to complete the hiring process.
- Pick up files when they are available.
WeScribeIt is not always hiring, but they say that when you apply, they will get back with you if they are interested. It might not be until they’re hiring again, so it might not be immediately.
Transcribing At WeScribeIt
One thing that jumped out at me is WeScribeIt has a turn around time of 6 to 16 hours, meaning when new files come in, they want them transcribed asap. Once you’re hired the schedule seems flexible, and I don’t see any time requirements.
It seems to be a company where you can pick up files when you’re available, transcribe them, and get paid. In no way does this look like a job that keeps you busy for 8 hours transcribing.
I would say this is a company that you can join and use along with other companies to keep yourself busy if you’re transcribing all day.
WeScribeIt Pay
For general transcription, WeScribeIt pays half a cent per word. To put this perspective, if you transcribe a 500-word file, you’d only get paid $2.50. If you type the minimum 55 wpm, it will take you roughly 10 minutes to transcribe the file (Most likely take you longer.)
When you take in the time to find the available file, double check your work, and upload it, the rate is pretty low.

WeScribeIt Feedback
WeScribeIt was founded in 2008, but I can’t find much information about working for the company. It seems that they are listed as a work from home option on many popular blogs, such as MoneyMakingMomma.com.
But in regards to feedback from current workers, I can’t find much.
Is WeScribeIt A Scam?
Thank you for reading this WeScribeIt Review, it’s not a scam, but the pay rate is low compared to some other companies. Really if you want to make decent money, you’ll need to get into transcribing the higher paying Medical files.
With that being said, WeScribeIt seems legitimate and can be a good place for beginners to pick up some experience and extra work.

As a stay at home mom I recommend “Medical Coding” as a wonderful work from home option. Yes, you will need training. You can’t just code medical records without having proper training. However, this is a real and promising career. I used to work for “Career Step” and they have an awesome Medical Coding course.

Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. Their program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. They work with companies such as CIOX Health, Lexicode, OS2-HCS, TrustHCS, Inovalon, Mckesson that hire their grads to work from home right out of the program.
The average salary for this career is about $40,000. Their entire program including books, instructors and job assistance is around $3,000 and they offer sweet payment plans.

I have been looking for some easy online work to earn a bit of extra pocket money. Its good to know this is legitimate and not a scam so I might give it a shot.

I will say that you can usually make more going in to business yourself, but that does require more work. Here’s a course on how to make a full-time income transcribing.
